History of Seed Series

The Seed Series stands as an enduring experiment in the art of craft beer. It presents us with a unique opportunity to delve into creativity, akin to a boundless sandbox where we explore fresh concepts throughout the intricate brewing process. Some of these conceptual seeds flourish into noteworthy offerings, while others patiently wait for their moment to blossom. This platform affords us the privilege of innovation, tempered with the wisdom of caution, as we employ smaller batches to validate our ideas. At Fernson, we extend a warm invitation to idea contributions from experienced brewers, new team members, and cherished patrons alike.

Why Plant the Seeds?

But why do we plant the seeds? Planting in small batches is a win-win for everyone, as we get to be creative in our brewing process while also providing you with a brand new brew every Thursday. Creativity isn't just a part of Fernson; it's at the very core of our being, and the Seed Series is where this creativity takes center stage. Often, the beers that emerge from the Seed Series are prototypes, guiding us to refine our brewing techniques and achieve perfection. This is our embodiment of continuous improvement, batches are always being improved upon to create the best possible outcome!

How do they get a Name?

The naming of each beer in the series is delightfully simple even if the beer is anything but. We've been following a chronological order from the very first iteration and marching forward to the present day, #172. Some seeds grow into robust, fruitful plants, earning themselves proper names. But here's the fun part: we're constantly brainstorming potential names for beers that we haven't even started brewing yet. Our brewery is a buzzing hub of exciting beer name banter!

Pink Lemonade Curio

The Pink Lemonade Curio was brought to life in large part due to the Seed Series. This delightful sour is a twist on one of our core beers, infused with strawberry, lemon, and prickly pear. The result was a hit, which then led to the naming of the beer and a wider stage to shine. This pink lemonade-inspired concoction is currently a seasonal treat, available in 4-packs or on tap. Will it make a comeback for another round in the future? Or is it just a precursor to the next summer smash? Who knows? It's all part of the brewing adventure.

Daylight Delight

Daylight Delight was an instant favorite and a legacy of the Seed Series. This beauty was conceived from a fusion of Seed Series #107 and #124. Daylight Delight is a mimosa seltzer, bursting with tangerine, orange, and grapefruit goodness. Its parents from the Seed Series had their own unique twists—#107 was a hard seltzer with orange, pineapple, and grapefruit puree, and #124 was filled with tangerine, cara cara orange, and grapefruit purees. These experiments helped us fine-tune our brewing process and craft the perfect flavor profile. Daylight Delight isn't an exact replica of its seed series parents; it's like their offspring with the best parts!
