Shy Giant: Now With Citra

Four years ago, we set out to make the best beer we could. Four years later, we know a whole lot more about beer than we used to. In that time we have made over 100 different styles of beer and have had over 1,500 days in the brewhouse. At the beginning of 2018, we got a 5 barrel pilot brew system and the Seed Series officially kicked off. The Seed Series has allowed us to explore new recipes, ideas, and trends in beer that we were never able to before.

The IPA category is one of the most popular and diverse categories in all of beer and something we were craving to explore. With the Seed Series came a deep dive into the world of IPAs. In these explorations, we brewed dry IPAs, Hazy IPAs, Sour IPAs, Double IPAs, American IPAs, Sessions IPAs, & more. Each brew taught us something new. Some things we learned were good, others were bad. Now, with a better understanding of water, malt, yeast, & hops and four years of brewing experience, we’ve decided to make a change.

Among other small adjustments and optimizations, we chose to include Citra hops which retain the green, piney flavors of a traditional IPA, but add soft and bright notes of modern IPAs like mango and grapefruit. The result is the truest version of how Shy Giant IPA should smell, taste, and feel. We’re so excited and proud to offer it to you, in all cans and kegs packaged April 5th, 2019 or later.
